WHAT TO SEE IN NEIGHBOURING AREAS

The Pyrenees – a stone’s throw away.

Due to Vielha’s ideal location, at the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees and only 25 km from the French border, its attractive accommodation options make the perfect base from which to explore some equally fascinating neighbouring areas. If you plan to stay in Vielha for several days, and are prepared to clock up the mileage in your own vehicle, some fantastic mountain roads can take you to other beautiful parts of the Pyrenean range.

We have put together a list of day trips using Vielha as a base that will take you to nearby destinations with something for everyone.

Culture combined with nature, and the mountains on your doorstep. A visit to the churches of the Vall de Boí World Heritage Site, a hiking route through the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, a visit to the world-famous pilgrimage site of Lourdes or spectacular French mountain towns like Luchon and Saint Bertrand de Comminges – the hard part is making up your mind!
